Proper Irreverence

I think the kids are
The ones who have it right
They sing loud
And don’t care who hears
They dance and
Pay no attention to who sees
And they find a smile in
Each and every circumstance,
When did we all lose that?
And how do we get it back?
To be so full of joy and wonder
God, make me like that
Properly irreverent
Like a little child
Who giggles at my toes
The innocent laughter
Of silliness that bubbles up
From our deepest parts
Make me properly irreverent
