Temptation

Creeping in like a ninja
Silent and unseen
Temptations crawl
Into our lives
Subtle, patient
Insidious and sneaky
It slithers into a crack
The smallest gap
In outer armor
It finds a corner
And grows until
We’re used to
It being there
And it seems normal,
A part of us maybe
But it’s still a
Temptation
And it’s only goal
Is destruction
Ultimate and final
Utter destruction
God’s light shines
On this foreign body
These lies that
Don’t belong in
Our lives, God’s light
Denies temptation
A place to grow
And makes it shrink back
And slither out
The way it came in
